Ashton Applewhite’s journey began as apprehensive baby boomer and led to becoming a pro-aging radical. Her first book, Cutting Loose: Why Women Who End Their Marriages Do So Well, challenged conventional notions and landed her on Phyllis Schlafly's enemies list. Working at the American Museum of Natural History for 17 years, she later embraced activism full-time, questioning society's bleak perception of late life despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Ashton co-founded the Old School Anti-Ageism Clearinghouse and became known for her blog ThisChairRocks and her advocacy platform Yo, Is this Ageist? Recognized by major media outlets and prestigious organizations, she has emerged as an expert on ageism, sharing her message at diverse venues, including the Library of Congress and the United Nations. Her alternative to age-associated hand-wringing is a call to wake up, cheer up, and push back.
