Five Things I’ve Learned began with the aim of learning directly from people we long admired. Find out what they think most important to share, we believed, and we’d learn and be inspired by their example.
To date, we’ve hosted more than 100 live sessions, classes and conversations with creative thinkers and artists of all kinds – people whose ideas and experiences mattered enough to them to want to share what they’ve learned with others.
Five Things I’ve Learned about America focuses this idea specifically on the issues that continue to shape America’s upcoming national election.
We’re proud to be working with Resolute Square to share this different kind of conversation. Together we aim to help to make clear the challenging times we’re living through in America – as the great people at Resolute Square describe it, “to expose, inspire, inform, lead, and connect, and to share the tools to fight the poison peddlers trying to destroy our democracy.” We’re equally eager to share suggestions about what we each can do to get involved.
In the coming months, we’ll present a series of live, personal conversations with leading thinkers, organizers, and advocates for our democracy. These free sessions, hosted by Resolute Square’s Megan Matson, each share the common title, Five Things I’ve Learned about America.
In tandem, we’re soliciting written pieces, short videos, and other bursts of ideas and inspiration from people whose ideas and experiences are equally inspiring and instructive. We’ll share these perspectives via newsletter twice a week through early November, with the aim of showcasing more voices and inspiring approaches for thinking about our current times.
Although you can always find new postings here, we hope you’ll take a moment to subscribe to Five Things I’ve Learned about America on Substack.
If you do so, we’ll send the latest voices and perspectives directly to your email address.
Please do. And please help spread the word.
There’s a lot we can do, if we do it together.
