Amber Tamblyn

Amber Tamblyn is a writer, actress, and director. Her work in television and film includes starring roles on House
M.D.General HospitalThe Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and Joan of Arcadia, for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Award for her performance as Joan Girardi. Most recently, she starred opposite Diane Lane in FX’s sci-fi drama series Y: The Last Man and in Nicole Holofcener’s film, You Hurt My Feelings. In 2016, Amber co-wrote, directed, and produced her first feature film, Paint It Black, adapted from Janet Fitch’s cult classic novel of the same name. The film stars Alia Shawkat, Janet McTeer, and Alfred Molina.

Amber is the author of seven books across genres, including her critically acclaimed memoir, Era of Ignition: Coming of Age in a Time of Rage and Revolution, as well as four books of poetry, and her electric and provocative debut novel, Any Man. Her most recent book, Listening in the Dark: Women Reclaiming the Power of Intuition, is a bestselling anthology featuring essays from leading feminist voices across industries. In June of 2024, The New Yorker published Amber's long form poem titled “This Living” in print and online.
